Established in 2004, the Anna Lindh foundation is a network of networks with the aim to turn the Euro-Mediterraniean region into a zone of prosperity and a friendly neighbourhood. It promotes dialogue and regional cooperation between civil society partners in the economic, social and cultural field. Special importance is given to the development of human resources with youth as the main target group. It aims to contribute to the visibility of the Barcelona Process through intellectual, cultural and civil society exchanges.
The foundation is a network of 35 national networks, set up by Euro-Mediterranean partners with the headquarters in Alexandria, Egypt.
All the Euro-Mediterranean partners as well as the European Commission contribute financially to achieve the following objectives:
| Promote knowledge, recognition and mutual respect between cultures and civilizations and cooperation between civil society partners in education, culture, science and communication |
| Foster intellectual co-operation and capacity-building in fields such as human rights, democratic citizenship, sustainable development, learning, knowledge and information society, gender and youth |
| Contribute to cooperation, exchange, mobility, understanding and peace within the Euro-Mediterranean area. |
Euro-Mediterranean regional cooperation requires the involvement of at least 2 EU and two EuroMed partner countries, which are Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants (project leaders) must fulfil all of the following criteria:
| Be a member of one of the 35 ALF National Networks, included in the official list of ALF National Networks published on the website of the ALF on the day of submission of the proposal |
| Be non-profit-making legal persons |
| Have their headquarters in a member country of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, |
| Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action, not acting as an intermediary. |
