Networks of Excellence
This is an instrument under FP6 to strengthen excellence by tackling the fragmentation of European Research by gathering the critical mass of resources and also gathering the resources and the expertise needed to provide European leadership. It structures and shapes the way research is carried out on the topics of the network.
New Independent States
This term comprises the old republics of the USSR, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The term can also include Russia and sometimes Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
