IDEA
This is an electronic directory, which collects and provides the list and links of EU institutions, bodies and other organisational units.

Integrated Projects
This is an instrument to support objective-driven research, with the main task to deliver knowledge for new products, processes and services and they should aim or to increase Europe’s competitiveness or addressing major needs in the society.

Intellectual property
Intellectual property is divided into two categories; Industrial property, which includes inventions, trademarks, industrial design and geographic indicators of source and the Copyright, which includes literary and artistic works. Intellectual property rights are important in order to give incentives to invent and to spend money on R&D.

Interactive Policy Making
This initiative of the European Commission consists of two Internet-based instruments (Feedback Mechanism and On-line Consultation Mechanism) enable the Commission to collect feedback directly from the citizens, consumers and business in order to get a better understanding of how their policy is perceived. IPM forms part of the e-Commission imitative and is linked to Governance and Better Regulation initiatives

Intergovernmental Conference (IGC)
This term refers to a conference at which the EU Member states’ governments come together in order to amend the European Union treaties. An IGC was held in 2003, when the plan was to merge all the present treaties into a single, simplified treaty (or “constitution”) setting out the EU’s aims and policies and saying who is responsible for doing what. The IGC did not reach an agreement on the new text, so further discussions will be held.

Internal Market
The term comprises all the markets of the EU and the creation and realisation of the Internal Market as a base for the European Economic Integration. Internal Policy This term refers to EU's 35 technical policies (Common policies and community programmes) and its different support, programmes and frameworks.
