Security and Safeguarding Liberties

The Security and Safeguarding Liberties Framework Program encourages cooperation among European authorities in the fight against crime and terrorism, so that European citizens may live safely and freely.
The program is then further subdivided into two subprograms:
The objectives of the Framework programme are to:
| Increase cooperation among law enforcement, national authorities and the EU |
| Develop public-private partnerships and strategies on crime prevention, criminology, statistics and the protection of victims and witnesses |
| Promote prevention and preparedness using common security standards and exchanging information and good practices |
| Develop effective EU crisis management system to exchange information. |
The programme also incorporates the work of the European Police Office ( Europol) and the European Police College (CEPOL).
