Jean Monnet Programme

Budget: EUR 170 million

The Jean Monnet action is devoted to the promotion of EU-related areas within higher education, regarding the European integration itself as well as the institutions and associations active in the field of education and training.

The programme supports three specific activities:

•  Jean Monnet Action aims to encourage projects and networks at the university level to promote research, teaching and all the concerning activities in connection with European Integration. The action supports a very wide range of activities and it has worldwide coverage. The allocated amounts will be provided in the form of project grants.
•  Named European institutions focuses on the support of 4 European higher education institutions: the College of Europe, including 2 campuses in Bruges and Natolin; the European University Institute, Florence; the Academy of European Law, Trier; and the European Institute of Public Administration, Maastricht. The amounts are allocated in form of operating grants.
•  Other European institutions and associations: the selection will be carried out via open call for proposals. The initiative will cover the award of about 20 operating grants per year allocated to the above-mentioned institutions and associations active in the field.

The target group of the programme includes students and researchers of all forms of higher education studying or working in the field of European integration within and outside the Community, higher education institutions within and outside the Community, associations and representatives of the above-mentioned institutions, teaching staff and administrative staff of the previously mentioned institutions, private and public organisations responsible for the organisation of education at the local and regional level, research centres and bodies that deal with issues in connection with European integration within and outside the Community.
