Civil Protection Financial Instrument
The Civil Protection Financial Instrument aims to support and complement the efforts undertaken by the Member States in the field of civil protection. The new instrument primarily protects people against disasters, but also protects environment and property, including cultural heritage, against catastrophes, either natural or man-made. Furthermore this instrument searches to strengthen co-operation between Member States in the field of civil protection. This instrument provides support to preventive and preparedness measures and is open to Member States and Candidate Countries (Turkey, FYROM and Croatia). Other third countries may co-operate in activities when agreements so allow. The following activities are eligible for financial support:
The total budget for the seven year period is 189, 8 million euro in current prices whereof 133,8 million derives from the subheading 3B „Citizenship” and 56 million from the subheading 4 „The EU as a global player”.
